I've been trying to get some stitching done on my coat and finally I've made some progress. It's really hard to do this on a coat that I need to wear all the time. With all of this global warming I find very little time to be able to stitch and still be able to go out for little luxuries like...food...

The large part in gold is my daughter's name in Chinese. I was looking over some of our adoption paperwork and actually found her original name (the one given to her by the orphanage) written in Chinese script! I scanned in the name, cleaned it up and made a pattern from it. This is one part of three that will be on the back of the coat. I'm doing a sort of couching with the gold thread. Crazy couching I guess you'd call it.
The rest of the borders are combinations of stitches. One of the borders I did the foundation stitches wrong so I had to work around them a little differently than what my book called for. It still came out nice.
Next time I'm hoping for pictures that aren't so blurry. I think I'll have to try one of the macro settings on the camera. Or maybe I'll try taking them BEFORE 1 am. LOL Maybe I was the blurry one!
I have a few tatted pieces that I want to use but I haven't found the right spot for either of them yet. I may have to make something new. I guess I'll be practicing that over the next few days so that I can remind myself on how to read the tatting patterns.
The best part about this coat is that it's WARM! I used a double thickness of polyester quilt batting all over the body of the coat. With that it turned out that I didn't need to do anything with the sleeves except to cover them with the new fabric.
And with that thought I'm going to go off to bed. I'm a half hour earlier than last night so that's progress! I did my back exercises and my ab exercises today and stuck with my diet for the most part.
I think my friend Amberlee is doing better than I am on the diet this time around. It does stink, though, when you lose weight, actually lose fat, in the wintertime. Why, do you ask? Because when you lose fat....you feel colder. Your body fat helps keep you warm. And right now I'm freezing. Time for me to go find a comfy quilt!

The coat looks fantastic! WOW. As for the diet, I have done one thing differently. I have added in an orange or 2 each week. It seems to really be helping me right now so I am sticking to low carb and not counting oranges! LOL This week I lived on chicken broth I was sooooo sick. So I think this week was different. I have found that exercise keeps me a lot warmer though! Hugs!
