And today I am a hero!

I have been giggling the whole time while making these little critters.

This all started a few days ago when DD and I were looking at the Digifree freebies list. She spotted the kit from Digital Candy called "Early Birds". Actually she spotted the googly eyed bumblebee. I asked her if she'd like to see how to make a little critter like that and she got REALLY interested. So we sat at the computer for awhile, her on my lap, and doodled the afternoon away until we had a bumblebee with googly eyes.

Today at her nap time, before she went to lay down, she said she'd like me to make a caterpillar next. Then a butterfly. Then a frog. Then a snail. Then I wanted a flower and a mushroom. Pretty soon we had a little collection of googly eyed cartoon bugs.

The red sneakers on the caterpillar were my idea.

Wanna know what the bonus of this little cartoon excursion is? She now realises that you have to READ in order to do all of this stuff on the computer like I do. She's sounding out her words and studying hard so she can read all of the drawing tools on the computer so she can make stuff too!!!! YEAH!!!!! We finally found that 'thing' that motivates her to really want to read.

She's been doing well for the most part but you could tell she wasn't really that motivated.

Until today when we made BUGS together!! LOL

Here's the preview for our bugs:

There are two copies of the caterpillar in the download. One with the shadow and one without.

Thanks for the lovely bugs! So glad using the computer is giving your daughter incentive to learn to read. Maybe she just didn't see how it'd be useful to her before.

Yea for reading enthusiasm! I have 2 rabid readers, and one reluctant reader, so I feel your pain. He's not struggling with reading, it's just so hard to find stuff he'll get interested in.
Love the bugs. That caterpillar with sneakers will be perfect for when I get around to scrapping my running pictures. thank you so much for sharing.
